France. A Foreign Legion Infantry and Engineers Units Side Cap
Fabricated from a fine forest green wool, with fold down flaps also in forest green wool on either side, two rising peaks forming a valley between the two panels, the valley in red wool, with a brass Foreign Legion Beret Badge used by Infantry and Engineers Units on the left side, the badge secured in place via intact lugs and pin. The inside is not lined, the 28 mm wide sweatband in black cotton, the sweatband stamped in white ink "ARMEE J16_0 SFH" on the right side, the digit between the "6" and "0" only partially visible, size stamped in white ink "55" with two other approval stamps flanking the size stamp on the left side, the one to the left of the size stamping marked "PARIS" at its base. The cap measures 275 mm (w) x 112 mm (h), without interruptions in the fabrics and is free of mothing. Near mint.
