(Ordre de la Santé Publique). Instituted in 1938. In silver gilt with blue enamels, measuring 39.5 mm (w) x 41.3 mm (h) inclusive of its integral suspension, intact enamels, large rosette on its original ribbon, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of Public Health was instituted on February 18, 1938 and awarded for meritorious services in the cause of health, relief of the poor and child welfare. It was discontinued on January 1, 1964 and replaced by the National Order of Merit.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
