Ordre du Mérite Touristique. Instituted in 1949. II Class Officer (in silver gilt, marked with a "1" flanked by cornucopia hallmarks and engraver marked "POILLERAT" on the reverse, measuring 31.5 mm (w) x 43 mm (h), large rosette on its original ribbon); and III Class Knight (in silvered bronze, cornucopia hallmarked, marked "BRONZE" and engraver marked "POILLERAT" on the reverse, measuring 31.5 mm (w) x 43 mm (h), original ribbon). Very light contact, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of Merit for Tourism was instituted on May 27, 1949. It was awarded for meritorious services to tourism in France, in three grades: Commander, Officer and Knight. It was discontinued on January 1, 1964 and replaced by the National Order of Merit.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
