Germany. A 1937 Luftwaffe Artillery NCO’s Visor Cap, by Robert Lubstein

(Luftwaffe Artillerie Unteroffizier Schirmmütze). The exterior of the cap is constructed of average quality gray wool. It features a traditional high peak crown with tightly seated and even red piping, indicative of artillery troops, running along the crown of the cap, as well as the top and bottom edges of the cap band. The cap band itself is constructed of black woven cotton. The cap eagle is missing, however the metal wreath and cockade is fastened loosely to the front of the cap. The visor is crafted of Vulkanfiber with a molded raised ridge running along the brim. It is lacquered in glossy black on the obverse, and is coloured in a green checkered pattern on the underside, remaining firmly attached to the cap. The three-piece glossy black leather chin cord rests upon the visor, with black magnetic length-adjustment buckles on either side, and is fastened to the cap via two black-finished magnetic buttons. The interior of the cap is lined in faded orange silk, with a clear celluloid diamond sewn to the underside of the crown, marked “Erel Sonderklasse - Robert Lubstein Größte Berliner Militär Mützenfabrik Berlin N.W.21 Alt Moabit 105 Lieferjahr 1937” in gold lettering. Along the edge of the cap is also a light brown faux leather sweatband that is perforated towards the front. It measures 250 mm (w) x 260 mm (w).
