Germany. A Cased 1918 Military Sports Table Medal of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen
(1918 Wehrsport Medaille der Freien Hanseatenstadt Bremen). A thick magnetic medal; the obverse depicting two rampant lions holding the coat of arms of the free city of Bremen; the reverse depicting a roman God holding a human figure in its hands, inscribed “Dem Verdienste” (German - For Merit); the edge of the medal inscribed “WEHRSPORT 1918” (German - Military Sports 1918); measuring 68.81 mm in diameter. Accompanied by its original case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed paper, with a textured faux leather (leatherette) exterior; the interior of the lid lined, with a recessed medal bed, with a functional spring catch and metal hinge, an intact interior fabric hinge, and a functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 100 mm (w) x 100 mm (h); in overall near very fine condition.
