A fine collection of badges, insignia, and photographs belonging to an early Der Stahlhelm member, consisting of 1) A Court Mounted Iron Cross 1914 Second Class, 2) An Early Der Stahlhelm Membership Badge, 3) A Grouping of four Der Stahlhelm insignia, 4) An early NSDAP/Political Eagle, 5) A Grouping of Der Stahlhlem Magdeburg Region insignia, 6) A Grouping of two Der Stahlhelm insignia, 7) A collection of eight photographs stemming from the recipient

 

1) A court mounted Iron Cross 1914 Second Class “Eisernes Kreuz 1914 2. Klasse”; a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border; on loop for suspension; the obverse with a raised central “W”, with the re-institution date “1914” in raised numbering on the lower arm, and the royal crown on the upper arm; the reverse with a central oak-leaf branch consisting of three oak leaves, with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbers on the lower arm, a raised Prussian crown on the upper arm, with “FW” in equally raised lettering directly below; measuring 42.57 mm (w) x 42.44 mm (h); mounted on a parade mounted medal bar, with a black wool backer and a horizontal pinback; with a maker’s tag on the reverse, reading “Ordens Dekoration Gravieranstalt, J. Bohgus Hannover, Steintorstraße 5” in golden yellow machine embroidery; accompanied by a period original medal ribbon bar, with a metal (magnetic core) and a horizontal pinback; measuring 26 mm (w) x 18 mm (h).

 

2) An Early “Der Stahlhelm” Badge; a round badge constructed of silver with black enamels; the obverse consisting of a black field of enamels, with a “Der Stahlhelm” pin on the obverse, with two laurel leaves on the bottom, dated “1919”; the reverse with a vertical pinback, and a functional hinge/catch assembly, marked “STH” for “Stahlhelm”, “Ges. Gesch.” Gr. G. Magdeburg, 10, 6.1.1919” etched on the reverse; measuring 34.88 mm in diameter; weighing 15.5 grams.

 

3) A Grouping of four Der Stahlhelm insignia, consisting of 1) A Der Stahlhelm Membership Badge; constructed of silvered bronze and black enamels; horizontal pinback; marked “STH” for “Stahlhelm” and “Ges. Gesch.” on the reverse; 21.87 mm in diameter. 2) A Der Stahlhelm Supporter’s Badge; constructed of silvered bronze; measuring 28.08 mm (w) x 15.92 mm (h). 3) A 1924 Stahlhelm Landsturm Badge; constructed of nickel silver; vertical pinback; measuring 21.13 mm (w) x 21.62 mm (h). 4) A Jungstahlhelm (Young Stahlhelm) Membership Badge; in bronze; horizontal pinback; measuring 38 mm (w) x 10 mm (h).

 

4) An early NSDAP/Political Eagle; constructed of silvered bronze; with all four prongs fully preserved on the reverse; measuring 36 mm (w) x 27 mm (h).

 

5) A Grouping of Der Stahlhlem Magdeburg Region insignia, consisting of a Der Stahlhelm Magdeburg sleeve patch, measuring 86 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), a Gau Magdeburg cuff title, measuring 168 mm (w) x 22 mm (h), and a Der Stahlhelm Magdeburg armband, measuring 180 mm (w) x 52 (h).

 

6) A Grouping of two Der Stahlhelm insignia, consisting of a Der Stahlhelm L.V. Mittle sleeve patch, measuring 68 mm (w) x 98 mm (h), and a Der Stahlhelm Thüringen armband, measuring 178 mm (w) x 38 mm (h).

 

7) A collection of eight photographs stemming from the recipient. Depicted in one of the photographs is the court mounted Iron Cross 1914 Second Class, as well as other insignia, such as the Stahlhelm supporters badge, the Young Stahlhelm badge, as well as the Gau Magdeburg sleeve patch; one of the photographs was previously collector’s mounted; measuring 88 mm (w) x 139 mm (h) to 54 mm (w) x 84 mm (h).
