(Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen). Constructed of oval silvered zink; with an oak leaf border and a pair of acorns at the base, with a large Wehrmacht-style eagle with folded wings clutching a mobile swastika, and a crossed bayonet and stick grenade in the centre; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, a barrel hinge, and a round wire catch; unmarked; measuring 42.71 mm (w) x 54.07 mm (h); weighing 27.7 grams; in overall very fine condition.
Footnote: This is an unmarked example of a General Assault Badge. Predominant Historian Frank Heukemes refers to this badge in his book “German Awards of World War II - The General Assault Badge” as the badge by “Unknown Maker #10”. It is often falsely attributed to Josef Feix & Söhne.
