An example of a mid-war manufacture Gold Grade Close Combat Clasp “Nahkampfspange”; in gilded zink; the obverse with a national eagle and a bayonet and hand grenade in the centerpiece, with sun rays emanating from the centre of the left and right sides, and with four oak leaves and two acorns on each side; the reverse plain, with a square magnetic backing plate; horizontal pinback with a barrel hinge and a flat wire catch on the reverse; maker marked with the stylized logo of “Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid” and designer marked “Peekahus, Berlin”; measuring 97.01 mm (w) x 25.86 mm (h); weighing 37.0 grams; with approximately 25% of its original gilt finish remaining; in overall better than fine condition.
