Constructed of gilt tombac; the obverse consisting of a large laurel wreath with a horseshoe at the bottom inscribed with the letter “R” Reiter/Rider, with a horse and a horse keeper within the badge; the reverse plain, with a vertical pinback, with a barrel hinge and a round wire catch; marked “L. Chr. Lauer Nürnberg, Berlin”, and marked “Gesetzlich Geschützt”; measuring 44.25 mm (w) x 48.65 mm (h); weighing 16.7 grams. Accompanied by its period original presentation case of issue; constructed of card-stock with a sliding box; measuring 57 mm (w) x 104 mm (h); in overall mint condition.
