Germany. A Handcarved Wooden 1937 NSFK Rhön Glider Competition Prize by Kleinsassen
An extremely well preserved example of a meticolousely carved 1937 NSFK (National Socialist Flyers Corps/Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps) 18. Rhön Segelflug Wettbewerb (Glider Competition) table medal; constructed of wood; the obverse depicting a gilder over a rocky landscape, circumscribed “NSFK 18. Rhön Segelflug Wettbewerb” in block lettering; the reverse plain; maker marked “Holzschnitzerei Menz Kleinsassen, Rhön” on the reverse; measuring 77 mm in diameter. Accompanied by its case of issue; constructed of pressed paper with a faux leather (leatherette) exterior stamped on the bottom of the case with the same event details as on the table medal; measuring 104 mm (w) x 104 mm (h); in mint condition.
