Germany. A Return of Memel Medal; Slanted G - Type 1 Version, by the Official Berlin Mint
(Medaille zur Erinnerung an die Heimkehr des Memellandes; 22. März 1939). A round medal constructed of gilt bronze; the obverse with two raised male figures, the one on the right bearing the German flag in his left hand, with his right hand placed around the shoulders of the figure on the left, with broken chains around his right arm, with the German eagle directly below; the reverse with the date “Zur Erinnerung An Die Heimkehr Des Memellandes 22. März, 1939” centrally; on loop for suspension; with a correct replacement ribbon; an unmarked example, but displaying typical manufacturing characteristics of a “Slanted G - Type 1” issue medal by Hauptmünzamt Berlin (Official Berlin Mint) - marked with their signature die-flaw in the shape of a micro “H.C.” on the bottom of the reverse; measuring 32.23 mm in diameter; weighing 13.4 grams. Accompanied by its presentation case; constructed of heavy pressed cardstock, with a red faux leather (leatherette) exterior; the exterior of the lid embossed with a golden national eagle; with a lined interior lid, a recessed medal bed, an intact interior fabric hinge cover, a functional spring catch with stud release, and a functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 48 mm (w) x 102 mm (h); in overall better than very fine condition.
