A German medal bar with an Schinckel Iron Cross 1939 Second Class and a Commemorative Memel Medal; the Schinckel Iron Cross 1939 Second Class consisting of a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border; on loop for suspension; the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm; the reverse with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbering on the lower arm; measuring 43.66 mm (w) x 43.39 mm (h). The Memel Medal consisting of a round gilt bronze medal; the obverse with two raised male figures, the one on the right bearing the German flag in his left hand, with his right hand placed around the shoulders of the figure on the left, with broken chains around his right arm, with the German eagle directly below; the reverse with the date “Zur Erinnerung An Die Heimkehr Des Memellandes 22. März, 1939” centrally; on loop for suspension; an unmarked example, but displaying typical manufacturing characteristics of a “Slanted G - Type 1” issue medal by Hauptmünzamt Berlin (Official Berlin Mint) - marked with their signature micro “H.C.” on the bottom of the reverse; measuring 32.19 mm in diameter; mounted on a medal bar; with a horizontal pinback; in overall near extremely fine condition.
