Germany, DAF. A Dr. Fritz Todt Prize, I Class in Gold
(Dr. Fritz Todt-Preis, I. Klasse in Gold). Instituted 12 November 1943. (1943-1945 issue). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of a German national eagle perched on top of a stylized banner bearing a raised inscription of “DR. FRITZ TODT”, in turn set above a Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) insignia in the form of a raised mobile swastika within a cogwheel, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 41.82 mm (w) x 65.50 mm (h), weighing 34.3 grams, with moderate loss of finish evident throughout, in very fine condition.
