Germany, Heer. A Cased 1940 Infantry Regiment “List” Sports Competition First Place Plaque
(Kriegssportfest Siegerplakette). Constructed of bronze, the obverse with a central Heer- (Army) style eagle clutching a mobile swastika, topped by a date of “1940” and flanked by laurel branches, the reverse with an inscription of “Kriegssportfest des Inf.-Reg. ‘List’ 1. Sieger”, unmarked, measuring 70 mm diameter, accompanied by its period original case of issue, constructed of heavy card stock with a faux green leather exterior, the obverse lid with a stylized gold border, the interior with a padded white satin-type lid liner, with an intact hinge cover and depressed black doeskin medal bed, opening with a functional bronze spring catch with exterior stud release, with a functional magnetic metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 108 mm (w) x 108 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
