What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Heer. A Flak/Artillery EM/NCO’s Visor Cap

(Heer Schirmmütze für Männer der Flak/Artillerie). A Heer Flak/Artillery EM/NCO’s visor cap, constructed of field-grey whipcord wool. It features reinforced side walls, fully lined on the exterior with a smooth dark green wool cap band. Length of red piping trims both the top and bottom edges of the cap band, while an additional length of identical piping trims the outer edge of the crown. Pinned onto the peak is an aluminum insignia consisting of a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 62 mm (w) x 26 mm (h) overall. Pinned onto the centre of the cap band directly beneath the eagle is a multi-piece aluminum insignia consisting of a tri-colour cockade within an oak leaf wreath, measuring 68 mm (w) x 46 mm (h). The cap band is flanked on each side by a black-painted magnetic metal rivet, securing in place a multi-piece black leatherette chinstrap, itself adjusted with dual functional magnetic metal buckles. When not in use, the chinstrap rests upon a protruding vulcanfibre visor, finished in a glossed black on the obverse and in a matte light brown on the reverse. The interior features a black leather sweatband measuring 45 mm in width, perforated along the forehead with an array of ventilation holes. It is also fully encompassed by a light brown rayon liner, the crown of which displays the remnants of a transparent plastic moisture guard which has been lost to time. Also visible in the centre of the crown are the illegible remnants of a maker’s mark. The cap measures approximately 235 mm (w) x 265 mm (l) x 162 mm (h). Issues consistent with age and wear are evident, and include sporadic mothing to the piping, which has exposed two sections of the wire core, and surrounding wool, with including a large spot to the left side of the crown, the loss of one of the eagle’s reverse attachment fatigue of the leather features with partial deterioration of the sweatband, and some interior soiling. The cap is in an overall very fine condition.
