(Brotbeutel). A German bread bag Model 1931, constructed of olive-drab water repellent canvas, the one-piece back and front are sewn together with a wedge-shaped side, which widens downwards, the bottom corners are slightly rounded, the flap, with rounded corners at the bottom, is sewn to the back, a D-ring for securing the canteen/mess kit is attached to either upper corner below the carrying loops, a leather tab for the buttoning strap of the canteen is sewn to the flap in a corresponding position on the lower third of the flap, two leather straps with two buttonholes each are sewn onto the inner side of the flap, with the buttons on the front of the bag, the carrying loops are sewn to the upper edge near its corners, reinforced at the bend by thin leather, the loops are buttoned on the front, centred on the upper edge is a double canvas strap with a metal hook on its end, the strip reaches inward for 30 mm and has a leather strap with three buttonholes for fastening the bag sewn to its end, two D-rings are sewn onto the back near the upper corners by means of leather tabs in a diagonal position, used to secure the shoulder strap, measures 260 mm (w) x 360 mm (h), discolouration over exterior and leather cracking in several spots, and in good condition.
