Germany, Heer. A Signals Personnel Unteroffizier’s Summer Field Blouse

(Feldbluse für Unteroffizier der Nachrichtentruppe). A well-preserved Heer Signals Personnel Unteroffizier’s summer field blouse, constructed of a khaki-tan cotton-blended cloth. It features a turned-down collar lined on the exterior with a smooth dark green wool, reinforced on the reverse with machine-stitched darts. The collar is trimmed with a silver aluminum wire tresse, and flanked by tabs bearing dual machine-embroidered silver-grey insignia bisected by lemon-yellow bands. The shoulders are adorned with straps constructed of dark green wool, trimmed with lemon-yellow piping, and bordered by silver aluminum wire tresses. Measuring 45 mm (w) x 105 mm (l), the straps are secured to the tunic with a pebbled zink button on the inner edge and with an integrated strap on the outer edge. Each breast flap features two pleated pockets, all opening with scalloped flaps with reinforced buttonholes meeting pebbled and silvered buttons. Stitched onto the tunic just above the upper right pocket is an insignia consisting of a dark green rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 105 mm (w) x 45 mm (h). The interior presents plain with the exception of a black ink stamp on the lower right flap which appears to read “ATELIER DE COUP” with other illegible inscriptions. It measures approximately 410 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 580 mm, and an overall body length of 680 mm. Issues consistent with extensive field use are evident, and include minor material wear and soiling, in addition to exterior fading highlighted by the removal of decorations from the left breast flap, an insignia from the upper left arm, and the cover of the collar and breast flaps. Notably, the latter adds to the appeal of the tunic as an evidently battle-worn example, and it is in an overall very fine condition.
