A wartime signed portrait of Generaloberst Eduard Dietl, in uniform and with the Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves and an extensive ribbon bar clearly visible, the lower border of the obverse overlaid by Dietl’s handwritten signature in blue ink, the reverse in unused postcard format and bearing a Mageburg studio mark, measuring 105 mm (w) x 148 mm (h), the ink demonstrating slight running consisting with some moisture exposure, in overall near extremely fine condition; accompanied by a Feldpost letter addressed to a student named Heinz Wiemeyer and dated 19 May 1944, indicating that the photo has been submitted in response to a written request for one submitted 11 May 1944, featuring the handwritten signature of an unidentified Oberleutnant and presumptive Dietl staffer, measuring 210 mm (w) x 160 mm (h), accompanied by its original envelope bearing Wiemeyer’s particulars, measuring 155 mm (w) x 120 mm (h), both the letter and envelope bearing Feldpost marks of “42853” for Gebirgs-AOK 20, Transport-Verbindungsstelle 11 und Stabsoffizier für Wehrmacht-Verlustwesen 3, also accompanied by a magazine extract depicting a black-and-white photo of Dietl with a group of HJ members, measuring 205 mm (w) x 136 mm (h), the letter and envelope displaying some folding creases and wear, in overall near extremely fine condition.
