Germany, Heer. An Army Officer’s Dagger, by Eickhorn
(Heer Offizierdolch). A dagger featuring a 25.5 cm long, drop forged steel nickel-silver plated stiletto style blade, with a flat central ridge, measuring, with hilt, approximately 37 cm in length, clean blade, maker mark on reverse ricasso with the squirrel logo for Eickhorn of Solingen, the obverse cross-guard features the embossed, Army-style national eagle with outstretched wings, clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, with a plain reverse, the ferrule and pommel feature embossed repeating oak-leaf patterns, the dagger has a molded dark yellow-orange celluloid grip with diagonally angled ribbing, accompanied by the original magnetic sheet metal construction scabbard with a pebbled pattern over the obverse and reverse with smooth side panels, the bands show a repeating horizontally embossed oak-leaf pattern and present both hanger suspension rings intact, the single dome-headed throat retains its screw, and the dagger is in overall better than very fine condition.
