Germany, Heer. An Army Panzer EM/NCO’s M1940 Overseas Cap by Wolber & Pfaff
(Heer Feldmütze). Constructed of smooth black wool; the cap features a fold-down side panel fully lining the circumference. The peak is adorned with an insignia in the form of a machine-embroidered white Wehrmacht-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, set on a green rayon backer, measuring 65 mm (w) x 27 mm (h). Underneath the eagle is a rose-pink embroidered soutache, indicating Panzer personnel. The soutache surrounds a machine-embroidered, BeVo-style tri-colour cockade which completes the exterior adornments of the cap, measuring 24 mm in diameter. The cap is flanked by ventilation holes reinforced by blackened magnetic metal eyelets. The interior is fully lined with a field-grey cotton liner bearing a maker’s mark of “Wolber & Pfaff, Hausach”, a model mark of “M1940”, and a size of “56”. Measuring 285 mm (l) x 115 mm (h) as presented, and in extremely fine condition.
