Germany, Heer. An EM/NCO M42 Overseas Cap, c. 1942
An M42 overseas cap constructed of field-grey wool, featuring a fold down back and side panels which slope downwards and button at the front with two magnetic pebbled metal buttons on the left and two threaded reinforced buttoning holes on the right, a non-magnetic grommet is allocated at either side of the cap just below the crown edge, the front centre bears a machine woven national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons, in grey thread, below is a cockade in red, white and black machine woven thread all on a field grey base, the interior is lined with a grey satin material, stamped with “55 Kurtze & Storckmann BERLIN C K.G.55 42” on the top, the side liner is stamped with “B. II. 42”, measuring 285 mm (w) x 110 mm (h), mint.
