Germany, Heer. An EM/NCO’s Tropical Overseas Cap, by Hans Brandt
(Heer Schiffchen). A very well-preserved Heer EM/NCO’s tropical overseas cap, constructed of olive-drab cotton twill. The cap is fully surrounded by scalloped fold-down side panels, while the crown is flanked on each side by a ventilation hole reinforced with a brown-painted zink eyelet. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia in the form of a light brown cotton backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 70 mm (w) x 30 mm (h). Underneath the eagle, the cap bears an tricolour cockade consisting of black, white, and red machine embroidery on an olive-drab backer, measuring 32 mm (w) x 32 mm (h). The interior features a complete red cotton twill liner, stamped with a maker’s mark of “HANS BRANDT MÜTZENFABRIK, MAGDEBURG-N, RITTERSTRAßE 12-19”, with a size stamp of “56” and an additional stamp of “842”. The cap measures 275 mm (l) x 105 mm (h). It is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
