Germany, Heer. An Etched Army Dress Bayonet by Carl Eickhorn

(Wehrmacht Bajonett). Measuring 365 mm with the scabbard on, this bayonet features a 200 mm-long nickel-plated magnetic steel blade with a sharpened edge and a pointed tip. The blade is engraved "Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit" (“In Memory of My Service Period”) inside a ribbon banner on the obverse of the blade, flanked on both sides by Wehrmacht- (Armed Forces) style German national eagles clutching mobile swastikas, while the ribbon banner is framed by clusters of oak leaves. The blade's reverse ricasso is clearly maker marked “Eickhorn, Solingen”, along with the company's insignia of a squirrel clutching a sword. The blade is met at the upper crossguard by a blackened leather washer fitting securely at the base. Crossguard with hooked quillon and, while both plates of the pebbled black synthetic grip are firmly held in place by two magnetic metal rivets and central pins. Accompanied by its nickel-plated, blackened magnetic metal scabbard, complete with frog stud and ball finial, exhibiting age-appropriate surface wear. Attached is the supple dark brown leather frog, unmarked, with heavy, durable, quality stitching, measuring 219 mm in length. There is some chipping and tarnishing of the nickel plating, and the scabbard has lost most of its original black paint, but the bayonet is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition.
