Germany, Heer. An Infantry Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by Richard Simm & Söhne
(Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen, in Silber). Instituted 20.12.1939 by Generalfeldmarshall Walther von Brauchitsch. (issued 1939-1945). Constructed of oval shaped oak leaf wreath in silvered zink, , with a national eagle clutching a swastika on the top and a bowtie on the bottom. Diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k with the bayonet attached to the front of the barrel and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle, the reverse plain, with a vertical needle style pinback, with a ball hinge and a flat catch, measuring 48.61 mm (w) x 62.21 mm (h), weighing 31.3 grams, in overall near very fine condition.
