Germany, HJ. A 1939 Regional Trade Competition Victor’s Badge, by Gustav Brehmer
(Ehrenzeichen Gausieger im Reichsberufswettkampf 1939). Instituted 1939 by the Reich Youth Leader and German Labour Front. (1939 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, around a white enameled disc bearing an inscription of “GAUSIEGER 1939” (“REGIONAL VICTOR 1939”), overload by a silvered German national eagle clutching a cogwheel, in turn bearing an enameled HJ insignia, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a flattened catch, the reverse maker marked “G. BREHMER, MARKNEUKIRCHEN”, measuring 49.15 mm (w) x 47.17 mm (h), weighing 28.0 grams, with only minor flecking evident to the enamel, in extremely fine condition.
