Germany, HJ. A HJ Knife, by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co., c.1939
(HJ Fahrtenmesser). A knife measuring 25.5 cm long with the scabbard on, featuring a 14 cm long brushed magnetic steel blade, the blade is unetched, but maker marked WKC SOLINGEN for WKC Waffenfabrik G.m.b.H. (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co.), Solingen-Wald, marked with RZM code M7/42 and dated 1939, with light marks common to extraction and return to the scabbard, the thick blackened leather washer at the crossguard is intact and sits tightly in place, the crossguard consists of a rounded finger guard, with signature black bakelite grip plates on either side, held in place via two rivets with a HJ diamond embedded into the obverse of the grip, moderate surface marks over hilt from period wear, the scabbard is constructed of black painted steel depicting moderate wear and loss of finish, presenting two hand-etched gliders on the obverse, with a leather scabbard hander constructed of black leather featuring a snap-button closure to secure the knife into place, and in overall near very fine condition.
