What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, HJ. A Member’s Knife, Relic Condition, by Carl Eickhorn

(HJ Fahrtenmesser). A relic condition HJ member’s knife, measuring 25 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 14 cm-long magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and lower edge. The obverse of the blade features an etched inscription of “BLUT UND EHRE!” (“BLOOD AND HONOUR!”) in cursive script, while the reverse features transitional maker’s marks consisting of the logo of Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, set above an RZM logo and maker code of “M7/66” for the same manufacturer. The reverse ricasso has been etched with presumed owner initials of “HW”. The blade sits securely within a one-piece magnetic metal hilt with a hooked quillon and pommel. Two strips of pebbled black bakelite compose the handle grip and are secured together with dual magnetic metal rivets. Inset into the obverse of the grip is an enameled HJ insignia measuring 15 mm (w) x 25 mm (h). It is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of a black-painted magnetic metal shaft. Riveted to the reverse is a black leather strap, stitched into a loop for belt suspension, retaining a functional magnetic metal snap button to hold the knife in place. Significant issues consistent with storage and use are evident, and include oxidation throughout all of the metal features (with total loss of scabbard paint), a crack to the obverse handle grip which has partially dislodged the insignia, and fatigue of the leather scabbard strap. A relic example in fair condition.
