Germany, Imperial. A II. Class Iron Cross 1914
(Eisernes Kreuz 1914 II. Klasse). A cross pattée of multi-piece construction consisting of a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silvered border, on loop for suspension with period original ribbon, obverse presents with a raised central “W”, with the reinstitution date of “1914” in raised numbers on the bottom arm and a raised Prussian royal crown on the top arm, the obverse presents with three raised oak leaves in the centre topped by a raised “FW” and Prussian royal crown, while the original institution date of “1813” appears in raised numbers on the bottom arm, measuring 47 mm (h) x 44 mm (w) and weighing 20.7 grams with ribbon, in very fine condition.
