What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

A lot of three postcards and a photograph, including a colour postcard presenting a painting of a German submarine sinking a French ship in the Atlantic, by artist Willy Stöwer (1864-1931), the reverse presents handwriting in black ink, dated 14 June 1917, postage stamped and dated 15 June 1917, measuring 13.85 cm (w) x 9 cm (h), and in near very fine condition. A postcard presenting a black-and-white photograph of the Kreuzer Medusa, the reverse presents handwriting in black ink, measuring 13.8 cm (w) x 8.7 cm (h), and in near very fine condition. A postcard presenting a black-and-white photograph of a submarine with the German U Boat Song, the reverse presents unused, maker marked Robert Franke, Hamburg, measuring 13.9 cm (w) x 8.9 cm (h), and in very fine condition. A black-and-white photograph of the S.M.S. Vineta, measuring 17.1 cm (w) x 12 cm (h), and in good condition.
