Germany, Imperial. A Pair of Postcards Depicting Manfred von Richthofen
(Postkarten). A pair of wartime postcards depicting Manfred von Richthofen (the “Red Baron”), including one in a service tunic and with the Pour le Mérite, 1914 Iron Cross in both II Class (ribbon) and I Class (badge), marked as part of a series of notable figure postcards issued by the firm of W. Sanke, Berlin, the reverse bearing a lengthy handwritten inscription to a recipient in Würzburg and certified with a Bavarian stamp, measuring 85 mm (w) x 135 mm (h), in extremely fine condition, and; one featuring a close-up portrait of von Richthofen wearing a visor cap and greatcoat with the Pour le Mérite clearly visible, the reverse unused and bearing a Hoffmann studio mark, measuring 90 mm (w) x 140 mm (h), in near mint condition.
