Germany, Imperial. A Pair of Wound Badges
(Verwundetenabzeichen). A pair of Wound Badges, including a Black Grade decoration, constructed of blackened magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central Stahlhelm on top of crossed swords on a cut-out background, the reverse with a square hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 39.04 mm (w) x 43.07 mm (h), weighing 4.4 grams, in extremely fine condition, and; a Silver Grade decoration, constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central Stahlhelm on top of crossed swords on a cut-out background, the reverse with a threaded lug formerly accommodating a backplate which has been lost to time, unmarked, measuring 37.86 mm (w) x 43.10 mm (h), weighing 8.6 grams, in very fine condition.
