(Ordensschnalle). An unusual medal bar to a First World War veteran with extensive involvement in postwar Germany’s myriad veterans’ organizations, featuring twelve decorations, including:

1. A German Legion of Honour Medal, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon pinned with a wreathed sword device, unmarked, measuring 32.00 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.

2. A Prussian War Commemorative Cross for Combatants, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 38.38 mm (w) x 43.27 mm (h), with some flecking of enamels evident, in near extremely fine condition.

3. A Prussian War Commemorative Cross 1914-1918 for War Aid and Care of Wounded, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 38.54 mm (w) x 43.29 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

4. A Bavarian War Commemorative Cross, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 35.04 mm (w) x 45.52 mm (h), with some flecking of enamels evident, in near extremely fine condition.

5. A Saxon War Honour Cross, II Class, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 39.44 mm (w) x 51.88 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

6. A Saxon War Merit Medal 1914/1918 in Silver, constructed of silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the reverse stamped with a silver content number of “950”, measuring 37.70 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.

7. A Württemberg War Commemorative Cross with Swords, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 39.49 mm (w) x 42.10 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

8. A Baden Field Honour Cross, Golden Variation, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 37.30 mm (w) x 41.25 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

9. A Commemorative Cross for Germany’s Honour in the East, constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the reverse maker marked “FLECK & SOHN, HAMBURG”, measuring 43.88 mm (w) x 45.56 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

10. A Somme Cross, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon pinned with crossed sword device, unmarked, measuring 40.17 mm (w) x 40.25 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

11. A Regimental Cross, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 39.90 mm (w) x 42.47 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

12. An Austrian Honour Legion Cross, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the reverse bearing an unidentified maker’s mark, measuring 41.11 mm (w) x 45.17 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

All suspended from a 23.5 cm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback and black wool reverse liner, unmarked, a high-quality and carefully-assembled collection of veterans’ decorations in extremely fine condition.
