Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Coastal Artillery Officer’s M43 Field Cap, c.1943
(Marineartillerie Einheitsfeldmütze). A field cap constructed of field-grey wool, with fold-down sides and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops to the front, the front of the cap features a machine-embroidered, Kriegsmarine-style eagle in yellow, machine-woven embroidery, mounted on a green woolen base, and an embroidered, national tri-colour cockade in black, white, and red threads, with a gold twisted cord around the crown, the skirt arms display the usual square-ended pattern and are secured at the front of the cap with two pebbled buttons, the cap features a cardboard-reinforced visor at the front, the interior is lined in blue-black rayon, unmarked, measuring 20 cm (w) x 25 cm (l) x 9 cm (h), the cap is very well-preserved, with minor soiling on interior liner, and in overall extremely fine condition.
