Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Coastal Artillery War Badge, by Schwerin
(Kriegsabzeichen für die Marineartillerie). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central coastal artillery gun with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 41.10 mm (w) x 54.55 mm (h), weighing 26.0 grams, with near-total loss of finish and evident of attempts to re-finish evident, in fair condition.
