Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Coastal Artillery War Badge, by Steinhauer & Lück
(Kriegsabzeichen für die Marineartillerie). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central coastal artillery gun with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Steinahaur & Lück, Lüdenscheid, measuring 41.57 mm (w) x 52.72 mm (h), weighing 20.8 grams, with consistent loss of finish evident, in very fine condition.
