Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Narvik Shield
(Narvikschild). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a propeller, anchor, and edelweiss representing the Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, and Gebirgsjäger, respectively, topped by an inscription of “NARVIK” and a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, affixed to a dark blue wool backer, the reverse with a zink backplate and all four attachment prongs intact, unmarked, measuring 48.40 mm (w) x 90.39 mm (h) (not inclusive of wool backer), minor oxidation evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
