Germany, Kriegsmarine. An Officers Garrison Cap, by Glöckler
(Bordmütze). A garrison cap (also known as a board cap) constructed of deep, navy blue wool, with fold-down sides and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops towards the front, bearing gold cord piping around the upper edge of the flap, the centre of the cap features a national eagle with outstretched-wings, clutching a wreathed swastika, woven in golden bullion wire threads on a navy blue cotton backing, measuring 82 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), directly below is a tri-colour cockade on a navy blue backer, measuring 41 mm (w) x 38 mm (h), the interior is lined with a black rayon liner, with a stamp of the size 58 ½, maker marked GLÖCKLER, measuring 29 cm (w) x 10.5 cm (h) (folded), very clean and no flaws, and in overall extremely fine condition.
