Germany, Luftwaffe. A 1942 London Aerial Bombing Target Card
(Luftwaffe Zielstammkarte). Constructed of off-white paper stock with black ink, unfolding to reveal a two pages of black typewritten text, featuring descriptions of industrial targets for Luftwaffe aerial bombing in London (industrial sector) and the Home Counties as part of continued post-Blitz efforts to undermine Britain’s war economy, notably including biscuit manufacturer McVitie & Price (today’s McVitie’s), the Heinz condiment factory, and the Siemens division of London, supplemented by a list of nearby airports and orientation points, dated March 1942, with a warning that Luftwaffe aircraft will be targeted by a combination of fighter planes, heavy and light flak batteries, spotlights, and barrage balloons, measuring 43 cm (w) x 30.5 cm (h), with minor tearing and material fatigue evident in addition to vertical and horizontal folding creases, in very fine condition.
