Germany, Luftwaffe. A Fallschirmjäger Badge, by Gebrüder Wegerhoff
(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen). Constructed of patinated and gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible sunken rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flattened catch, maker marked with the logo of Gebrüder Wegerhoff, Lüdenscheid, measuring 43.08 mm (w) x 53.92 mm (h), weighing 32.0 grams, demonstrating minor loss of finish and some loosening of the eagle, in near extremely fine condition.
