Germany, Luftwaffe. A Flight Personnel Tropical Leutnant’s Field Blouse

(Luftwaffe Tropen Feldbluse). A well-preserved Luftwaffe Flight Personnel tropical Leutnant’s field blouse, constructed of olive-drab cotton twill. It features a turned-down collar, transitioning into double breast lapels, flanked on each side by tabs. The latter are constructed of golden-yellow wool with buckram cores, trimmed with twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire piping, and bear a single silver aluminum wire gull situated above an oak leaf wreath. Each tab measures 45 mm (w) x 60 mm (l). The shoulders are topped by boards constructed of golden-yellow wool with card stock cores and topped by four bands of silver aluminum wire piping. Each measuring 40 mm (w) x 110 mm (l), the boards are secured in place with loops at the outer edges and with pebbled, silvered buttons on the inner edges. The cuff of each sleeve has a vertical slit that closes with a reinforced buttonhole meeting two pressed card stock buttons for an adjustable fit. The breasts have four pockets which close with scalloped horizontal flaps perforated with reinforced buttonholes, in turn meeting pebbled, silvered buttons. The upper left pocket is overlaid by multiple sets of vertical threaded loops to accommodate awards with vertical pinbacks, while additional loops arranged horizontally above the same pocket allow for the addition of a ribbon bar. The blouse closes with five pebbled, silvered buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. Stitched through the top buttonhole is a 1939 Iron Cross II Class ribbon. The interior features a single narrow pocket located at the lower right flap, while the waistband has dual sets of three reinforced eyelets for the accommodation of a belt hanger. Stamped onto the right breast is a partially legible Reichsbetriebsnummer (RBNr.), situated above size dimensions. The blouse measures approximately 43 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 55 cm, and an overall body length of 65 cm. Demonstrating only minor signs of wear, it remains in an extremely fine condition.
