Germany, Luftwaffe. A German Cross in Gold, Luftwaffe Cloth Version

(Deutsches Kreuz). Instituted on 28 September 1941 by AH. Cloth Version Type 1. An eight-point sunburst with the top, inner layer sunburst in matte grey cotton thread, the bottom, outer layer in bright, silver aluminum wire, the cross has a gilded circular cupal wreath with embossed laurel leaves and ribbons and a small banner with the date “1941” at the bottom centre, the inner edge of the wreath has a red thread border with an additional silver aluminum wire outer border on a white cotton base, the wreath encompasses an embroidered black swastika with an aluminum thread border on a white cotton base, the cross is mounted on a cut-out piece of blue-grey felt in the form of the inner starburst is the base of the cross, the reverse is unmarked and covered in common thin black paper, measures 67 mm (w) x 67 mm (h), moderate wear along outer edges of sunburst, and in near very fine condition.
