(Luftwaffe Tisch Adler). A large and unique commemorative desk eagle, constructed of bronze and painted in a subtle olive-drab, consisting of a German national eagle with its wings fully outstretched and executed in exceptional detail, perched atop a cascading rock formation, with the obverse of the rock face overlaid by a silvered mobile swastika which contrasts in high relief against the patinated background, riveted to a dark polished marble base, with the reverse of the base rivets with an aluminum plaque bearing an engraved inscription of “MEINEM LIEBEN WERNER ZUR ERINNRUNG ZUM KAMPFFLIEGER 1940 VON SEINEM VATER HANS BARTSCH (HPTM. D. R.)” (“MY DEAR WERNER, IN MEMORY OF THE FIGHTER PILOT OF 1940, FROM YOUR FATHER HANS BARTSCH (HAUPTMANN DER RESERVE)”, measuring 40 cm (w) x 18 cm (l) x 38 cm (h), with minor loss of finish visible to high-contact points, including some chipping to the eagle’s beak, a unique and dedicated item in near extremely fine condition.
