Germany, Luftwaffe. A Navigator’s Watch, with Case, by Lacher & Co.
(Luftwaffe Beobachtungs-Uhr). A well-preserved Luftwaffe navigator’s watch, type A, constructed of a rounded non-magnetic metal case, the obverse featuring a black face featuring numerals 1-12 (the latter substituted with a triangle) graded at intervals of five with second notches, all highlighted with fully-intact luminous paint, featuring hour, minute, and second hands, covered by an intact transparent plastic crystal, flanked on the right by a functional wind-up dial, the reverse bearing a serial number of “H663”, the edge bearing a design number of “FL 23883”, with double loops retains a fully-intact replacement suede strap, the face measuring 55 mm in diameter, accompanied by its original presentation case, of two-piece card stock construction, retaining a manufacturer’s label bearing a maker’s mark of “LACHER = CO., PFORZHEIM” for the firm behind the “LACO” trade name, with a matching serial number of “663”, measuring 7.5 cm (w) x 15.5 cm (l) x 4 cm (h), the watch is functional when wound but should be examined by a qualified horologist or watchmaker to determine condition, with only minor scratching and loss of paint visible to the crystal and case, respectively, a rare set in extremely fine condition.
