Germany, Luftwaffe. A Pilot and Observer Badge, by Friedrich Linden
(Flugzeugführer- und Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of silvered and gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 65.58 mm (w) x 53.26 mm (h), weighing 31.grams, with oxidation and loss of finish evident throughout, in overall very fine condition.
