An extensive and fascinating private wartime Luftwaffe photo album, constructed of a card stock binding with a stylized oak leaf exterior, with a rayon cord looped through four magnetic metal eyelets set into the spine securely maintaining the album’s structure, affixed to the cover is a raised Heinkel He 11 bomber constructed of silvered bronze, the interior contents consisting of 19 black card stock pages separated by wax paper dividers, with 149 black-and-white privately-taken photos depicting wartime France, the Eastern Front (with some shots including Budapest and images of destruction in Hungary), and aerial shots of Greece, with images of Luftwaffe and other Wehrmacht personnel at leisure, training, and on review, with additional images of Wehrmacht graves, the album notably features five photos of Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring meeting with Luftwaffe Officers at an improvised airfield, with four additional photos of Romanian Prime Minister Ion Antonescu meeting with Luftwaffe Officers and reviewing personnel at an airfield, it measures 320 mm (w) x 220 mm (h), some age-appropriate issues are evident and include material fatigue of the binding, the separation of some of the wax paper dividers, and the loss of three photos, a fascinating and comprehensive private wartime photo album in overall near extremely fine condition.
