(Fliegerschützenabzeichen für Bordschützen und Bordmechaniker). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a mobile swastika, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching dual lightning bolts, the reverse with dual visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flattened catch, unmarked, measuring 45.70 mm (w) x 53.64 mm (h), weighing 32.0 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of heavy card stock with a faux blue leather exterior liner, the exterior lid bearing a gilt inscription of “LUFTWAFFEN-FLIEGERSCHÜTZEN-ABZEICHEN” in Fraktur script, the interior with a padded blue satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted blue felt medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 68 mm (w) x 75 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), with oxidation and loss of finish evident throughout the badge and some material fatigue apparent to both the interior and exterior of the case, in overall very fine condition.
