Germany, Luftwaffe. An Artillery NCO’s Summer Visor Cap
(Luftwaffe Sommer Unteroffizier Schirmmütze). Of multi-piece construction, consisting of white cotton linen. The cap features a traditional high peak crown that is removable for laundering, held upright via an interior wire. It features a traditional cap band around the entirety of the cap, constructed of black interwoven fabric, with red Waffenfarbe piping along the top and bottom of the band, but with white piping along the crown. The front of the cap features two insignia - consisting of an aluminum cap eagle, and an NCO’s wreath, constructed of silvered aluminum. The visor is constructed of stiff black leather, with the black finished leather chinstrap resting upon the protruding visor, composed of two pieces - the two ends are held together via a rectangular metal loop in the centre, with each strap having its own adjustable buckle, held in place by a black magnetic button. The interior is unfinished, with a brown faux leather sweatband that is perforated towards the front. It measures 260 mm (w) x 260 mm (h) in total. A worn example, with light to moderate soiling from period use, in overall better than very fine condition.
