Germany, Luftwaffe. An Artillery NCO’s Vicor Cap, by Robert Lubstein

(Luftwaffe Artillerie Unteroffizier Schirmmütze). The exterior of the cap is constructed of grey wool featuring a traditional high peak crown with tightly seated and even red piping, indicative of artillery troops, running along the crown of the cap as well as the top and bottom edges of the cap band. The cap band is constructed of black woven cotton. A cap eagle adorns the crown in addition to the metal wreath and cockade fastened to the front of the cap. The visor is crafted of Vulkanfiber with a molded raised ridge running along the brim, it is lacquered in glossy black on the obverse and coloured in a green checkered pattern on the underside. The three-piece glossy black leather chin cord rests upon the visor with black buckles on either side and is fastened to the cap via two black-finished buttons. The interior of the cap is lined in faded orange silk with a clear celluloid diamond sewn to the underside of the crown, marked with the faded logo of “Robert Lubstein” in silver lettering. The maker stamped the size “57” above the logo. Along the edge of the cap is a light brown faux leather sweatband. The visor measures approximately 240 mm (w) x 260 mm (h). The interior shows some period wear but in otherwise better than extremely fine condition.
