Germany, NSBO. A National Socialist Factory Cell Organization Officer’s Visor Cap, by Anton Seemüller
(Schirmmütze für Männer der Nationalsozialistische Betriebszellenorganisation). An extremely well-preserved National Socialist Factory Cell Organization (NSBO) Officer’s visor cap, constructed of brown gabardine wool. The crown is fully surrounded by a band of white wool piping, and is absent an interior reinforcement, giving the cap a saddle-style appearance with a high peak. Pinned onto the peak is a silvered bronze insignia consisting of an early NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 36 mm (w) x 26 mm (h). Set into the cap band just underneath the eagle is a silvered and pebbled magnetic metal button bearing a raised NSDAP-stype German national eagle clutching a swastika. The button measures 22 mm in total diameter. The cap band is flanked on each side by pebbled magnetic metal buttons, securing in place a decorative chinstrap constructed of multiple rows of twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire, and is adjusted with dual functional sliding knots of identical construction. The chinstrap rests upon a protruding black vulcanfibre visor, which is securely set within the structure of the cap by a row of heavy machine stitching. The interior is fully surrounded by dark brown leather sweatband, similarly secured in place by heavy stitching. A lemon-yellow cotton-blended liner fully encompasses the interior, and retains a transparent rhomboid moisture guard stitched onto the crown. Underneath the crown, a maker’s mark of “ANTON SEEMÜLLER, DILLINGEN” remains clearly visible, indicating a high-quality privately-purchased example. The cap measures approximately 235 mm (w) x 250 mm (l) x 150 mm (h). Minor material fatigue is evident to the visor, and there is some distortion to the structure of the side walls, but the cap is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
