Constructed of gilded tombak with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse with a central black enameled mobile swastika on a white enameled disc, in turn within a ring of red enamel bearing a gilt inscription of “NATIONAL-SOZIALISTISCHE D.A.P.” (“NATIONAL SOCIALIST GERMAN WORKERS’ PARTY”), the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, engraved with a membership number of “54915” for Franz Joss, measuring 30.40 mm in diameter, weighing 13.6, there is slight chipping and flecking evident to the enamels and a small patch of lost gilt on the reverse, in overall better than very fine condition.
Footnote: Franz Joss was born on 13 March 1902 in Budapest, Austria-Hungary. He joined the NSDAP on 22 November 1926 with membership number “54915”. Employed as an automobile mechanic, he enlisted in the National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK) and served with Motorsturm 1. He is registered to various addresses in Graz, Wallendorf, Vienna, and finally Neu-Ulm. Joss received the Golden Party Badge on 25 January 1935.
